Motor yacht "Merrikka"
Location: 21037 Hamburg
The mechanical engineer Karl-Heinz Widmark from Hamburg, together with a carpenter friend, built four identical boats that are still in use today. The hull is made of 2cm(+) thick GRP, the superstructure and fittings of solid mahogany. The entire deck is covered with real wood teak. Stainless steel railings, cleats and much more were manufactured in solid construction and custom-made. This makes each of the four boats truly unique.
No. 4 of 4 was taken over by the current owner from the designer's family in 2013. Since then, many tours, including longer ones, have been undertaken. The "Merrika" has plenty of space and sufficient storage space. The gangway is wide and the all-round stainless steel railing provides stability in any situation. The large windows let plenty of light into the boat. The sliding side doors provide easy access to the boat and on hot days it can be ventilated easily. All engine maintenance was carried out regularly by the owner. The port engine heat exchanger including all hoses was replaced in 2023. The port gearbox was completely overhauled in 2020. A further heat exchanger, replacement propeller, 30 liters of engine oil and various accessories for maintenance and servicing are available. The operation of a solar system is prepared.
Some woodwork on deck, such as sanding and varnishing/sealing, should be done in the near future. The saloon window on the starboard side of the steering position needs to be resealed. Due to their design, the gearboxes tend to be slightly oily at the oil seal. These were replaced regularly.
