Celebrity 280 EC - Well-maintained sports cruiser with 2011 refit and top equipment
This Celebrity 280 EC, built in 2001, presents itself as an elegant and well-maintained sports cruiser with an extensive refit in 2011 and many other technical and visual upgrades in the years that followed. With a length of around 9 meters, a width of 3 meters and a weight of around 4.3 tons, she offers generous space, a high level of comfort and impressive handling characteristics - ideal for weekend cruises, family outings or longer vacation trips.
The Celebrity 280 EC is powered by two MerCruiser 4.3L EFI petrol engines with duo-prop drive, which ensure reliable performance and efficient consumption thanks to their electronic fuel injection. Both engine blocks were renewed as part of the 2011 refit. The engines currently have 461 and 539 operating hours respectively. The drive was repainted in 2024, the impeller and V-belt were renewed in the same year, and the spark plugs and ignition cables were replaced in 2025 - a clear sign of continuous care and maintenance.
The boat is also optimally equipped in terms of steering and handling: Two trim tabs ensure optimum handling, and the throttle and shift cables as well as the switch box were completely replaced in 2014. A 500-watt Lofrans anchor winch with chain counter (2011) and a Vetus bow thruster with radio remote control (2012) make maneuvering in harbors and narrow bays much easier. The equipment is complemented by a Garmin GPSMAP 720 chart plotter with NMEA 2000 connection, fish finder/echo sounder, a Lowrance radio and an integrated safety and sensor system.
The electrical system has been extensively modernized and professionally installed. Two 205 Ah Trojan deep-cycle consumer batteries reliably supply the on-board electronics, controlled by a Victron MultiPlus 800 charger and inverter as well as various Sterling chargers and B2B/A2B systems for optimum charge distribution. The battery status can be conveniently read off via the Nasa BM2 monitoring system. All consumers are protected by LED lighting and a modern Smartfuse system, including undervoltage protection and remote main switch. In 2024, a solar panel was also installed and the starter batteries and bow battery were replaced.
Inside, the Celebrity 280 EC impresses with a tasteful combination of functionality and comfort. The galley is equipped with a Waeco CR65 refrigerator (2015), a sink and cooking facilities. The electric ceramic toilet (Smartflush, 2011) with stainless steel hot water boiler, hot water shower in the bathroom and at the stern as well as a drinking water filter ensure maximum comfort on board. The fresh and waste water tanks (approx. 100 liters each) are equipped with modern NMEA 2000 tank sensors so that the fill levels are displayed directly on the plotter.
The cockpit and saloon were also modernized during and after the refit. The upholstery and mattresses were replaced in 2012, as was the teak table top in the cockpit. This was followed in 2023 by new carpets in the cabin and cockpit, four new fenders with stainless steel baskets, new windows in the tarpaulin and a stern wash system. The tarpaulin is finished in elegant black and can be used as a bimini top; there is also a custom-made full cover. The hull was partially repainted in 2023, giving the boat an attractive appearance.
For music lovers, the Celebrity 280 EC offers a high-quality Clarion CMV1 multimedia system with DVD, subwoofer, six loudspeakers and several remote controls, which is connected to the TV system and a DVB-T antenna. This makes evenings in port a relaxing experience.
The equipment is rounded off by numerous safety and comfort details, including a stainless steel M-anchor with 10 meters of stainless steel chain and 35 meters of galvanized chain, several fire extinguishers, an LED control panel with USB ports in the cockpit and an NMEA 2000 network that displays many on-board parameters centrally on the plotter.
