Built in 1929 - and has not stood still, but sailed on. The Möwe is not a restored exhibit, but an active 8.5 KR sea cruiser that has done exactly what it was built to do for decades: sail. Designed by Arthur Tiller at the Stenvat shipyard in Magdeburg, this long-keeler still stands for course stability, reliability and classic lines that never age.
The decisive factor is not the year of construction - but the use: in the last 15 years, the Möwe has regularly sailed the entire Baltic Sea and taken part in classic regattas. You are not buying a theoretically seaworthy ship, but one that has proven its capabilities under real conditions.
Technically, the basis is clear: a Vetus diesel with 42 hp (built in 2002) and 1,800 documented operating hours. The ZF gearbox and engine water pump were replaced in 2025 and the jib was newly manufactured in 2024. The result: a classic that doesn't need to be prepared, but is ready to sail.
On board you will find the necessary equipment for longer trips: chart plotter, autopilot, VHF, GPS and depth sounder. Below deck, the cabin offers four berths, 1.70 m headroom, electric fridge and gas stove - functional, reduced to the essentials, perfectly in keeping with the character of the boat.
An additional advantage: an equipped winter berth with its own tent cover can be taken over - a practical factor that is often underestimated with classic boats.
In short: a ship for all those who are not looking for a perfect showroom classic, but one that sails - and is ready to keep on doing so.
