The Nauticat 33 is one of the best-known and most distinctive Finnish-built motor-sailers and has enjoyed an excellent reputation for decades as a comfortable, robust, and seaworthy cruising yacht. The Nauticat 33 offered here, built in 1982, is in good, well-maintained condition and combines the classic motor-sailer design with a comfortable deck saloon, a sheltered helm station, and spacious living areas.

Of particular note is the proven Ford Mermaid diesel engine, which has logged only about 1,500 operating hours. For a yacht of this age, this is a remarkably low mileage. The reliable diesel engine makes the Nauticat a smooth and comfortable cruiser, even on longer trips, and complements its excellent sailing characteristics with the advantages of a powerful motor.

The deck saloon design, typical of the Nauticat, is one of its greatest advantages. The sheltered interior helm station offers an excellent all-around view and allows for comfortable navigation regardless of weather conditions and outside temperatures. In nice weather, the outdoor helm station is also available. This combination makes the Nauticat 33 particularly versatile, allowing for both sheltered sailing in challenging conditions and relaxed outdoor helming.

Below deck, the Nauticat 33 is both comfortable and functional. The high-quality woodwork typical of these yachts, the generous storage space, and the well-thought-out layout create a distinctly pleasant sense of space. The salon serves as the central living area and offers plenty of space for socializing on board. The sleeping accommodations and other living areas make the boat an attractive option for both extended trips for two and cruises with family or friends.

On deck, too, the Nauticat 33 is consistently designed for comfortable cruising. The sheltered deckhouse and cockpit layout, the solid fiberglass construction, and the classic ketch rig underscore this yacht’s character as a versatile long-distance motor-sailer. The Nauticat combines the advantages of a sailboat with the comfort and practicality of a small motor yacht.

The Nauticat 33 was built by Siltala Yachts in Finland. To this day, the Nauticat brand embodies the Scandinavian school of boatbuilding, characterized by solid construction, functional design details, and a clear focus on comfort and seaworthiness. It is precisely these qualities that have helped the Nauticat 33 maintain a large following even decades after it was built and remain highly sought after on the international used-boat market.

Because it was built in 1982, this yacht is generally not subject to the European CE marking requirement that was introduced later. A CE marking is therefore not required for this vessel. The Nauticat 33 was designed as a robust and seagoing cruising yacht for demanding voyages. In terms of today’s classification system, its intended area of operation is roughly comparable to CE Category B „Offshore,“ although this does not constitute a retroactive CE certification or CE categorization of the vessel.

With its excellent overall condition, classic Nauticat design, and—in particular—the Ford Mermaid diesel engine with only about 1,500 operating hours, this Nauticat 33 offers an attractive opportunity for enthusiasts of high-quality cruising yachts with plenty of character. It is equally suited for relaxed coastal cruises, extended voyages, and longer stays aboard.

If you're looking for a classic Finnish yacht with genuine character, a comfortable deck saloon, a sheltered helm, and solid construction, this Nauticat 33 offers a truly intriguing combination of a traditional motor-sailer, a comfortable cruising yacht, and proven Scandinavian quality.
