Built for distance - not for after-work cruising: the Bianca Commander 31 is one of the few sailing yachts of this size that is truly suitable for blue water.
Designed by Knud E. Hansen and Jan Kjærulff, CE category B, repeatedly proven on long voyages up to circumnavigation. Less than 200 units built - not a series product, but a cruising boat with a clear focus: reliable sailing, even when the weather doesn't play ball.
This example was not preserved, but sensibly further developed: Engine and gearbox renewed (2002), maintenance 2025, plus a hull in GRP sandwich construction with balsa core - insulating, low condensation and noticeably more comfortable on longer trips. The steering wheel in the cockpit, a rare feature on this model, makes handling more relaxed and controlled, especially when cruising.
The last few years show clear investments: new tarpaulin and windows (2022), new batteries, new upholstery, new sea toilet. No cosmetic interventions, but functional renovations that improve everyday life on board.
Everything is ready for sailing: Furling genoa with UV protection, spinnaker, lazy jacks, Raymarine autopilot, VHF radio and folding propeller. This boat is not in the harbor because it has to be - but because it is not underway.
In short: compact blue water sailor with proven seaworthiness, renewed technical base and complete sailing equipment - immediately ready for longer trips.
